We've partnered with the amazing Original Flava chefs to create a unique BBQ jackfruit recipe with a Hawksbill Rum twist.
Jackfruit is a tropical fruit with a distinctive, sweet flavour and a meaty texture - often compared to pulled pork. It is becoming increasingly popular as a meat substitute and can be used in savoury dishes like curries, stir-fries and tacos. This jackfruit recipe is incredible and you won't believe it's completely meat free! You simply need to give this recipe a try!
2x 540g Young green jackfruit (tinned or fresh)
50ml Hawksbill Caribbean Spiced Rum
1 tbsp all purpose seasoning
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp dried thyme
150g BBQ sauce
1 tbsp jerk paste marinade
Wash and drain jackfruit then add to a mixing bowl, then pour a shot of Hawksbill Rum and season with the above seasonings and cornflour then give a mix.
In a small bowl add BBQ sauce, jerk marinade and another shot of rum then give a mix then set aside.
Deep fry jackfruit in oil for 3/4 minutes until crispy then toss in your Hawksbill Jerk BBQ sauce. Then cook in oven for 5 minutes and serve. Recipe suitable for air frying too.
